GreenGab was founded in 2009 by Gaby Green.
After some years working with various PR companies where she felt she didn’t fully connect with the genres they worked in, Gaby decided to set up her own company, quite simply to represent only music she truly believes in.
Gaby started her career in the music industry working as a broadcast assistant on Bob Harris’ BBC Radio 2 Saturday show. This experience opened up a whole range of previously unknown artists to her.
While many PRs seem to take anything on for a cheque, regardless of quality, GreenGab PR believes in liaising closely with management and the artists themselves to develop a good working relationship and friendship to drive a campaign. We work with the policy of quality over quantity, so GreenGab doesn’t take on a hundred different projects all at once but a select few, to make each project a really high priority.

Delvon Lamarr Organ Trio—or as it is sometimes referred to, DLO3—specialize in the lost art of “feel good music.” The ingredients of this intoxicating cocktail include a big helping of the 1960s organ jazz stylings of Jimmy Smith and Baby Face Willette; a pinch of the snappy soul strut of Booker T. & The M.G.’s, The Meters, and sprinkles Motown, Stax Records, blues, and cosmic Jimi Hendrix-style guitar. It’s a soul-jazz concoction that goes straight to your heart and head makes your body break out in a sweat.
The band features organist Delvon Lamarr, a self-taught virtuosic musician, with perfect pitch who taught himself jazz and has effortlessly been able to play a multitude of instruments. On guitar is the dynamo Jimmy James who eases through Steve Cropper-style chanking guitar, volcanic acid-rock freak-out lead playing, and slinky Grant Green style jazz. From Reno, Nevada is drummer Dan Weiss (also of the powerhouse soul and funk collective The Sextones). Dan’s smoldering pocket-groove drumming locks in the trio’s explosive chemistry.

There aren’t many musical heroes like Dan Penn. In songwriting circles his name is as good as gold, and often platinum. And when it comes to those who can give life to the human spirit in song, it sometimes feels like Penn is traveling in a party of one. His voice sounds like it comes from the strong Southern soil in Alabama where he was born and raised, and then deepened in Memphis and Muscle Shoals. It is a true fact that when Dan Penn sings one of his own songs, something happens that is beyond sound. A light is turned on inside his listeners, and the world takes on an added dimension.
On his new album, Living on Mercy, out August 28, 2020 on Last Music Co., Dan Penn collaborates with some of the other best songwriters in Nashville, Memphis, Muscle Shoals and points beyond, and applies all the wondrous things he’s seen and learned since his first songwriting job when he was 16 years old. There is a truthful essence in his new music that feels like it is directed by a higher source, one that opens the door to an eternal understanding of what songs are capable of.

June 6th, 2020, will mark the first anniversary of the passing of Mac Rebennack—known throughout the World as Dr. John, and on June 5h, The Last Music Company will release a commemorative limited vinyl edition of SKE DAT DE DAT, worldwide.
Dr. John, a six-time GRAMMY® Award-winning ambassador of New Orleans Music and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, recorded the album seven years ago in tribute to the great Louis Armstrong, inspired by a dream in which he received his marching orders from “Satchmo” himself.
“I tried to make the songs fit me the best I could,” Dr. John said in an interview on the subject with the Los Angeles Times. “I hope I was always true to the music. I have no idea what the world’s gonna ever say about what that is. But you know what? I felt like I gave it my best.” And that he did, along with some of his friends.
Co-produced by trombonist Sara Morrow, the album weaves rare collaborations with Bonnie Raitt, Shemekia Copeland, The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, Arturo Sandoval, The McCrary Sisters, Terrance Blanchard, The Blind Boys of Alabama and others into fresh interpretations and arrangements of songs from Armstrong’s extensive catalog.
The Blind Boys of Alabama open the affair with “What A Wonderful World” which jaunts into Dr. John’s funky New Orleans take on the classic. Standouts on the journey include a bluesy rendition of “I’ve Got The World On A String” with Bonnie Raitt, and “Gut Bucket Blues,” with Nicholas Payton’s show-stopping performance on trumpet. “Sweet Hunk O’ Trash, ” is a sassy back-and-forth with Shemekia Copeland, which glides into a classy “Memories of You” on the sound of Arturo Sandoval’s trumpet. The rousing set finisher, “When You’re Smiling (The Whole World Smiles With You),” features The Dirty Dozen Brass Band, at its pure NOLA best.
Louis Armstrong and Dr. John made “the whole world smile” with them, by bringing the musical traditions of New Orleans to the greater World. The reissue of SKE DAT DE DAT celebrates the imagination of both men, and one hopes, somewhere in the “Spirit Gig,” they are still smiling.

Monophonics
Bay Area psychedelic-soul band Monophonics announce the release of their new album It's Only Us on April 24th via Colemine Records .
Monophonics has been slowly growing their special blend of psychedelic soul music since 2011. It comes from a like-minded group of musicians that pride themselves on creating something that stands on its own as unique and original. The story starts with a one off 7” release in June of 2011 via a brand new label out of Ohio doing small runs of 45’s only. Terry Cole, was a biology teacher who inherited a love for music and vinyl from his father. When singer Kelly Finnigan reached out to Cole, to see about his label Colemine Records possibly releasing something, he likely didn’t know what this would all lead to almost 10 years later.
After the release of the single “Like Yesterday” the name Monophonics started to resonate with DJ’s, crate diggers, tastemakers and soul lovers. By the time their 2012 album “In Your Brain” came out, they had a strong fan base in the states and internationally. From 2012 to 2014 they were constantly on the road playing hundreds shows in dozens of countries including backing up French soul singer Ben L’Once Soul on many tours and recordings. Quickly word was spreading of a band that not only made provocative records but also put on an energetic live show.
In 2015 the band followed up with a stunning release entitled “Sound of Sinning” which further pushed their sound forward and allotted Monophonics as one of the premier bands coming out of the west coast. After touring the SOS LP for a year and a half and continuing to spread their brand by playing renowned festivals all over the world(over 20 countries) and sharing the bill with acclaimed international acts across all genres. The band took some time to reflect and re-energize for the future.
In 2017 the band went back into the studio and banged out a handful of inspiring covers which became their 2018 EP Mirrors, covering bands that had influenced them over the years including Lee Moses, Black Merda, The Invincibles, The Main Ingredient & Dennis Coffey.
Since 2018 the band has been laying low and slowly crafting what has become their new record ‘It’s Only Us’ which some consider their best work to date and will be released by the ever growing Colemine Records which has become one of the leading indie labels.
‘It’s Only Us’ a timeless sound that blends heavy soul and psych-rock, Monophonics have built a reputation over the past decade as one of the best live bands in the country. Led by singer and producer Kelly Finnigan, the band of has drawn on their colorful history — both their experiences as veteran touring performers and as individuals growing up in the Bay Area — to create their fourth release since 2012.
The new album was recorded and produced by Kelly Finnigan at the bands own analog studio Transistor Sound Studio, which hides in the hills of Marin County. Some songs were written and demoed at a 19th school house school house on a farm in Sonoma County weeks before recording while others were written and cut to tape on the same day. It’s an organic process where the musicians are in the room together recording live to an 8 track reel to reel machine and the goal is to capture a timeless vibe. After the foundation is laid down, Finnigan takes the tapes and creates a layer of new textures and colours to compliment the compositions. Producing the record and bringing the vision to reality with vocals, horns, strings, harp, mellotron, synthesizers, vibes and bells.
The subject matter and feeling in the songs are a reflection of what they see as the current state of the world, the record touches on difficult subjects such as broken relationships, mental health issues, gun violence and power struggles, all with an underlying message of unity, resilience and acceptance. The band’s signature style of arrangement has been expanded with top-notch production and creative instrumentation to round out the Monophonics’ trademark soul sound, while Finnigan’s vocals are more powerful than ever. At times these tracks can feel classic, as familiar as an old song you grew up with, while simultaneously raising questions about the state of music in 2020 and what the future might hold.
“It’s Only Us” is the sound of a group continuing to grow as songwriters, musicians, performers and people — reflecting on where they’ve been, and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in the years to come.

“It’s about not being afraid, just doing it for yourself, and having a really good time doing it and making sure our audience has a really good time too,” says Dawn Joseph , one half of the duo MF Robots (aka Music For Robots) she has formed with Jan Kincaid. The soulfully energetic self-titled debut album will be released May 4th, 2018 via Membran Music.
Jan Kincaid, the former drummer, songwriter, producer, and founder of the Brand New Heavies met Dawn Joseph, the vocalist and multi-instrumentalist, when she started singing for the Heavies in 2013. The pair instantly clicked, and within their first week of working together, they were writing songs. By the end of their first month, they already had far too many for the Heavies to realistically put out.
Now they’ve formed their own band, MF Robots – their name, a subtle dig at how generic today’s music climate has become – based around Joseph’s effusive vocals, mindful of soul’s golden age but no revival, and Kincaid’s killer rhythms.

If ever an artist called on the elements in her songwriting, it's Megan Henwood. The distinguished English singer-songwriter is far too self-deprecating to describe herself as a force of nature, but her third album River reaffirms her unique ability to create roots music of beguiling purity from what's around her.
The most mature work yet of an artist renowned for her intoxicating blend of acoustic and electronic ingredients, River depicts Henwood's lifelong relationship with the rivers and seas that flow into her creativity. Its alt-folk essence is illuminated with shades of sophisticated jazz and low-key electronica, on a record of dark hues and discreet optimism.
The album, again produced by close collaborator Tom Excell, is the third in a bespoke series that began after Megan won the 2009 BBC Young Folk Award, aged just 20, with her brother Joe. Her debut Glastonbury Festival appearance duly followed the next year.

Steve Arrington, 80s hit maker and former front man of funk legends Slave, is back after a 20+ year hiatus from the music business. His collaborations with Snoop Dogg and Dam Funk from 2013, and brand new self-produced material throughout 2014, show that Steve's still got the funk in super human quantities (as they say in Dayton OH, home town of Arrington, Slave, Zapp, The Ohio Players etc etc etc - "there must be something in the water").
September 29th, 2014 sees the release of "Way Out (80-84)" a retrospective encompassing all of Arrington’s classics—his first solo single, the Slave backed “Summetime Lovin’” / ”Special Effects from Mars,” much sampled hits like “Way Out" and “Weak at the Knees” from his early solo albums (just check the credits on tracks by A Tribe Called Quest, Jay-Z, Mariah Carey, Pitbull, etc), unreleased songs deemed too progressive by Atlantic Records at the time and five previously unfinished tracks featuring the classic Hall of Fame line up with brand new vocals and finishing touches from his current band.

The legendary rock ‘n’ roller Dion (DiMucci) will release his new album, Tank Full of Blues, on May 7th, 2012 via Blue Horizon. Tank Full of Blues is his third album in the trilogy of recordings that Dion began in 2006 with the release of Bronx in Blue. Unlike Dion’s two preceding blues albums, his latest release expresses who he is within this genre and is composed almost entirely of original, newly written songs.
Although the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame inductee is often thought of as a rock pioneer, the blues has long provided a context for his creative flow. It is fitting then that Tank Full of Blues will be released via Blue Horizon, the legendary blues label, best known for discovering bands like Fleetwood Mac and Chickenshack. The imprint was re-launched in 2010 by Richard Gottehrer and Seymour Stein. At its inception in the late 1960s, Blue Horizon was the sister label to Sire Records, the home of such noted artists as Madonna, Talking Heads, The Pretenders, Depeche Mode and, likewise, founded by Stein and Gottehrer.

Musical Prodigy
Previously known as 'The Family a project initiated by Prince after the success of the movie Purple Rain. Band members included St. Paul Peterson, Jellybean Johnson (both of members of The Time) Susannah Melvoin and Eric Leeds. Their only album, titled “The Family,” released in 1985 on the Paisley Park/Warner label spawned a top 10 R&B hit ('Screams Of Passion') and introduced ‘Nothing Compares 2 U’ which was famously covered by Sinead O’Connor.
Their debut CD has become a cult classic and has been cited by numerous artists from R&B acts like Rahsaan Patterson to legends including Paul McCartney & Robert Palmer. 2011 Grammy Winner Questlove of The Roots says their debut is "one of the most unheralded funk records of all time" (GQ Magazine)!
Now, after many years, the band is back. However, due to a variety of differences with their former mentor no longer use 'The Family' name ... the band is now fDeluxe. The new album, titled Gaslight, is pure funk.
Gaslight will be released on Art Of Groove Records November 14th 2011.

Larry Graham

Larry Graham is a living musical legend three times over: as the bassist-singer with "Sly & The Family Stone", where his innovative thumping-plucking style of bass playing became tremendously influential; as leader of the hit-making funk group "Graham Central Station" through the 70’s ; and then as a top-selling solo artist in the 80’s.
Following Sly and the Family Stone's 1993 induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, he re-formed Graham Central Station. In the late 90’s and early 2000’s Larry Graham was frequently seen sharing the stage with Prince.
The last couple of years Larry has been recording new material and also formed a brand new "Graham Central Station" band with whom he’s now touring the Globe, performing his greatest hits and promoting his long awaited brand new album titled “Raise Up” released October 22nd on “Art Of Groove Records”. Funk fans have been waiting for a new album by Larry Graham & Graham Central Station since 1998!
